The Initial Training Officer Course equips EMS professionals with the skills and knowledge to effectively manage training programs within their agencies.

Eligibility Requirements
To qualify for the EMS Training Officer endorsement, applicants must:
- Hold a current Utah EMS license.
- Hold a current EMS Instructor endorsement.
- Provide documentation of 30 hours of EMS instruction completed within the last year.
How to Apply
Follow these steps to register for the course:
- Visit emslicense.utah.gov
- Select Education, enter the course number, and register
- Begin the EMS Training Officer application
- Upload all required documentation
- Pay the $75 endorsement fee
- Complete the EMS Training Officer application
Note: Registration does not guarantee endorsement.
All eligibility requirements and course components must be completed successfully.
Required Documentation
Applicants must upload the following:
- Verification of 30 hours of EMS instruction completed within the past year
- Proof of a current EMS Instructor endorsement
- Proof of successful course completion
- A signed Training Officer Contract, acknowledging the standards outlined in the Training Officer Manual
Course Details
Format: Webinar
Attendance: Mandatory for endorsement eligibility
Webinar Access: Participants will receive the meeting link and instructions one week prior to the course date
Endorsement Information
- The Training Officer endorsement is valid for two years.
- You must maintain an active EMS Instructor endorsement for your Training Officer endorsement to remain valid.
- If your EMS license or Instructor endorsement lapses, your Training Officer endorsement becomes invalid until renewed.
Reminder: Registration and course attendance do not guarantee endorsement.
Approval requires successful completion of all requirements and Department review.
